About the role

The Houston office of Arup is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Structural Engineering team. The role can be based in either Austin or Dallas.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and design structural elements and systems for steel, concrete, timber and masonry buildings in accordance with building code and design standards.
  • Perform lateral analyses of structures for seismic and wind loading.
  • Prepare and review drawings detailing the systems designed.
  • Complete design calculations for structural systems for permit submittals.
  • Coverage of work with engineers of other disciplines and with architectural teams and contractors.
  • Review submittals prepared by contractors and respond to requests for information, perform construction site visits to observe the progress of construction.
  • Communicate our structural engineering designs to our clients and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with a sound knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals as they relate to building systems.
  • 7+ years related experience in structural design and engineering.
  • Interest and experience in Data Center Design and/or Rail market are preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of general analysis and seismic design software (ETABS, SAFE, SAP, etc.)

Qualifications

  • PE license required, SE license preferred.

Pay

The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Houston is $112,000 to $129,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary.
