About the role
A highly motivated and insightful Senior Medical Strategist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of medical science and communications, a passion for healthcare marketing, and a proven ability to translate complex information into compelling narratives. We seek a collaborative individual who can work effectively with cross-functional teams, contribute to new business pitches, and drive organic growth within existing accounts.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of medical literature, clinical trial data, and competitive intelligence to identify key insights and unmet needs within specific therapeutic areas.
- Translate complex scientific data and medical concepts into clear, concise, and engaging narratives that resonate with target audiences, including HCPs and patients.
- Develop overarching narratives, supporting messages, and evidence-based arguments, ensuring content is comprehensive, compliant, and accurately referenced.
- Oversee and contribute to the development of a wide range of medical communication materials, including slide decks, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and digital content.
- Ensure scientific accuracy and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Work with Director, Group Director, and Managing Director-level medical strategists to develop and deliver compelling medical briefing decks for pitches and projects.
- Identify top key opinion leaders (KOLs) through desk research. Attend and lead KOL interviews, develop discussion guides, contribute to research stimuli, and provide summaries with key takeaways.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor on medical strategy and communication.
- Present strategic recommendations and secure client buy-in.
- Contribute to new business pitches by providing medical strategy expertise and developing compelling proposals that showcase our agency's capabilities.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including junior medical strategists, to ensure seamless integration of medical strategy across all aspects of client projects.
- Develop agendas for workshops, create workshop slides and pre-read materials, support facilitation, take notes, and contribute to report writing.
- Support the development of patient and HCP journeys through primary and secondary research. Define key medical needs, functional and emotional experiences, and touchpoints across the customer journey.
- Continuously monitor industry trends, emerging scientific data, and evolving regulatory guidelines to inform strategic recommendations and maintain a cutting-edge perspective.
Requirements
- A degree in a scientific or medical field (e.g., biology, chemistry, pharmacy, or a related discipline).
- An advanced degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD) is a plus but not required.
- 2+ years of experience in medical strategy, medical communications, or a related field within the healthcare industry.
- A strong understanding of medical science and clinical trial data.
- Proven ability to translate complex scientific information into clear and engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Experience in developing medical communication materials, such as slide decks, manuscripts, abstracts, and posters.
- Strong research and analytical skills, including experience with literature reviews and competitive intelligence gathering.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with KOL identification and engagement is a plus.
- Familiarity with HCP and DTC marketing regulations and guidelines.
