About the Role

Responsible for driving revenue by selling and retaining investment products and services with a focus on ETF, Mutual Fund, Separately Managed Accounts, Alternative Investments, and Multi Asset Class products and services to prospective clients. Acts as the technical expert and lead on major national accounts regarding the bank's products and services and the outside marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Sells ETF, Mutual Fund, and Multi Asset Class products and services to suitable prospects, producing fee revenue for the bank.
  • Identifies new prospects by researching potential needs and prioritizing and producing a business plan.
  • Acts as the technical expert and lead on major national accounts regarding the bank's products and services and the outside marketplace, including competitors.
  • Makes customized sales presentations to large and complex clients utilizing knowledge of the bank’s products and services.
  • Utilizes knowledge of the bank’s investment, trust, custody, and securities products and services to work with internal partners and recommend new services or products to clients.
  • Maintains ongoing relationships with advisors, home office personnel, and other centers of influence to promote the bank’s products and services.
  • Optimizes revenue and profitability of key strategic relationships.
  • Maintains knowledge of the bank’s products and services by engaging with other financial institutions, partners, and staying updated on laws and regulations affecting the industry.
  • Stays informed about competitors and their products and services.
  • Works cross-functionally with sales, product, investment, custody, and operations teams to deliver a unified Northern Trust experience to strategic clients.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of investment sales experience, including an extensive network of RIA contacts.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required.
  • NASD Series 7 and 66 (or 63 & 65) are required.
  • CFA is strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of investment management areas across all products and segments such as fixed income, active and passive equities, cash, alternative investments, securities, and international markets, along with other Northern Trust products and services.
  • Understanding of the national footprint across all channels, including custodians, wirehouses, independent broker/dealers, regional broker/dealers, and registered investment advisors.
  • Ability to communicate and sell Northern Trust products and services to generate revenue.
  • Knowledge of securities and pension industry products and services to compete with other financial institutions.
  • Strong negotiation skills to respond to fee proposals.
  • Leadership and organizational skills.

Pay

Salary range is $158,010 - $268,640 USD. The range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
