Senior Strategic Planner - Affordable Housing
About the role
Shape Newcastle’s Future as a Senior Strategic Planner with a focus on affordable housing. This permanent full-time position offers a 35-hour working week with multiple flexible working arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver planning strategies, proposals, policies, and reports
- Prepare and administer local infrastructure and affordable housing contributions frameworks
- Manage complex projects from concept through to implementation
- Identify resources, engage consultants, and lead meaningful community and stakeholder engagement
- Provide specialist advice, mentor team members, and contribute to high-quality planning outcomes
Requirements
- Experienced Senior Strategic Planner with a background in affordable housing and/or development contributions
- Strong understanding of strategic urban planning and affordable housing planning and management
- Experience in managing complex projects and engaging stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in strategic planning and affordable housing
- Knowledge of local government processes and regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software

Pay
$128,610.10 + 17.5% annual leave loading yearly payment + 12% Superannuation per annum for a 35-hour week
