Senior Stormwater Engineer (Transportation Design Engineer V)

About the role

The Senior Stormwater Engineer is responsible for leading MDTA’s stormwater asset program including small drainage, stormwater management (SWM) facilities and drainage outfalls. The position plans and manages remedial projects/tasks to align with MDTA’s strategic goals and to comply with local, state, and federal standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Inventory, inspect, assess and monitor stormwater assets, including investigation of concerns/complaints and asset failures and development of engineering solutions;
• Prepare plans, reports, specifications, and construction documents;
• Supervise consultant engineering professionals, technicians and administrative staff and manage consultant tasks;
• Cookordinate with MDTA’s Geographic Information System (GIS), Engineering, Operations and Construction teams;
• Support the compliance program related to stormwater requirements for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permits and Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) Chesapeake Bay restoration goal and other state or local permits.

Requirements

The employee in this position will report directly to the Environmental Discipline Manager. The current vacancy is in Baltimore, MD. Hybrid telework schedules may be available for this position.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Maryland Professional Engineer license, in the appropriate option, is required. Evidence of license must be presented at the time of appointment.
• Experience: One year of experience managing engineering projects as a licensed, professional engineer.
• Two years of water resources or environmental engineering design, project or program management, or plan review experience related to highway drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, drainage outfall channel stabilization, or stream restoration.
