Senior Statutory Accountant

Job Summary

Independence American Insurance Company (IAIC) is seeking a hybrid Senior Accountant to assist with statutory quarterly and annual statement preparation, external and regulatory reviews, audits, and examinations, project assistance, and financial reporting.

Main Responsibilities

• Assistance with Statutory Quarterly and Annual Statement Preparation
• Work with others to gather necessary detailed data for statement components
• Auxiliary with External and Regulatory Reviews, Audits, and Examinations
• Assist in Various Projects, Analysis, and Similar Job-Related Duties
• State Filings and Forms Assistance
• Routine to Complex Corporate Accounting Reporting and Analysis
• Journal Entries Preparation in Accordance with STAT and GAAP Principles
• Monthly, Quarterly, Annual GAAP and/or STAT Reporting and Closing Processes
• Financial Statement Work Paper Support Reconciliation Preparation
• Financial Data Analysis and Commentary for Decision Making and Performance Improvement
• Bank Account, Claim Funds, Funds Held, and Other Balance Sheet and Expense Account Reconciliation
• Mentor and Support Staff by Providing Guidance, Reviewing Work, and Fostering Professional Development

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related field required
• Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, strong Excel skills, and experience with general ledger software
• Analyzes and solves problems
• Self-motivated, disciplined, organized, and enthusiastic
• Demonstrates commitment to teamwork
