About the role
ASRT is seeking a Senior Statistician / Statistical Analytics Lead to provide senior methodological leadership for survey design, statistical analysis, weighting, sampling, imputation, analytical automation, and scientific interpretation. The position will advise Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) researchers and program leaders on complex statistical methods and ensure analyses, protocols, manuscripts, and technical products meet rigorous scientific standards.
Must be a United States citizen, permanent resident, or have authorization for employment in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Lead statistical methodology and analytical planning.
- Develop multistage survey sampling designs.
- Develop sample-size and allocation recommendations.
- Design weighting, imputation, and variance-estimation approaches.
- Develop innovative sampling methodologies for household, telephone, school, web, and other surveys.
- Conduct advanced analyses using SAS, STATA, SUDAAN, R, Python, or comparable software.
- Develop reusable macros and automated statistical workflows.
- Prepare statistical analysis plans.
- Review study protocols, manuscripts, analytic plans, and technical documentation.
- Interpret complex statistical findings for scientific and programmatic audiences.
- Provide senior consultation to CDC scientists and program leadership.
- Mentor junior statisticians and data analysts.
- Coordinate statistical methodology with domestic and international partners.
- Support manuscripts and peer-reviewed publications.
- Conduct quality reviews of statistical outputs and analytical methods.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Biostatistics, or closely related field.
- 7 years of professional statistical-analysis experience.
- Experience providing statistical support to health research/studies.
- Advanced proficiency in SAS; intermediate/advanced proficiency in R.
- Experience with STATA and/or SUDAAN.
- Experience developing statistical analysis plans.
- Experience with regression, imputation, survey statistics, and data validation.
- Experience analyzing surveillance systems, vital statistics, or large healthcare datasets.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or doctoral work in Statistics or Biostatistics.
- CDC / Health and Human Services (HHS) experience.
- Experience with NHANES, BRFSS, NHIS, vital statistics, EHR, claims, or administrative data.
- Complex survey design and SUDAAN experience.
- Peer-reviewed publication experience.
- Experience supporting international survey programs.
- Automated statistical-reporting methods.
- Familiarity with reproducible analytical environments, version control, or Git/Azure DevOps.
- Python desirable for statistical automation.
