Senior Standards Program Manager (Combustion, Cable and Conduit)

About the role
The Senior Standards Program Manager for Combustion, Cable and Conduit (CCC) will support a diverse portfolio of standards and lead the execution of our standards development and maintenance process to advance the mission of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) to make the world safer, more secure, and sustainable. The Senior Standards Program Manager will leverage expertise to inform the standards development strategy focused on optimization, efficiency, capacity, and impact of safety standards. They will ensure the effective execution of the processes for developing and maintaining high-quality standards while providing oversight and guidance to standards team members.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle of standard development process, including identifying needs, creating, revising, approving, and publishing standards.
- Manage multiple projects to ensure successful execution aligned with organizational goals.
- Drive the integration of safety standards and requirements into relevant end-product and services standards, and advocate for use of UL standards publications.
- Serve as subject matter expert in technical or program area.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders relative to assigned portfolio, actively engage external stakeholders, and represent the organization through presentations, technical committees, panel discussions, and publications.
- Develop and implement technical program strategic plans, processes, communication systems, information systems, and performance measurement systems.
- Scope and lead end-to-end project plans.
- Troubleshoot and address complex and undefined issues impacting broad areas of the standards development organization, and lead process improvement within cross-functional partnerships.
- Continuously monitor the performance and status of standards within the portfolio.
- Identify opportunities for program expansion, ensure the continuous evolution and relevance of safety standards, and create capacity for new high-impact standards.
- Represent ULSE in stakeholder bodies within specific industry sectors or categories.
- Lead collaborative efforts and consensus building to advance safety standards initiatives.
- Lead technical committee chairs and multiple standards teams with complex workstreams that span one or more program areas.
- Provide oversight, guidance, coaching, and training to junior and seasoned team members.
- Cultivate a collaborative environment to ensure the team’s success in effective execution of standards activities.
- Maintain continued awareness of industry trends and external context related to the portfolio, offering insight to inform strategic decisions and direction of the standards development function.
- Contribute to department initiatives as needed.

Requirements
- Demonstrated advanced-level knowledge in program management, with expertise to lead, mentor, and manage the execution of processes or projects within a technical or program area.
- Established leader with experience executing strategy, setting strategic direction, interpreting, supporting, and executing organizational strategy while effectively translating objectives into actionable plans.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, set expectations, establish and operationalize clear goals, and enforce accountability for both processes and results.
- Excellent communicator and presenter, skilled in conflict mediation, negotiation, and influencing diverse stakeholders.
- Proven capability in establishing effective relationships with others, including senior leaders and external stakeholders.
- Experience fostering collaboration and partnership with cross-functional teams to develop solutions with broad impact.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to innovate and adapt in a dynamic industry landscape.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 9 years of related work experience.
- PMP or relevant project management certification is a plus.

Pay
Salary range: $131,186.31 - $180,381.17
