Senior Staff UX Design Manager, Gmail

At Google, we focus on the user and all else will follow. As a UX Design Manager, you will drive this vision by defining product strategy, mitigating complexity, and conceptualizing ecosystem-level UX. You are a systems-level thinker and a fierce advocate for both your users and your team.
Responsibilities
- Drive the strategy and execution of an agentic Gmail, utilizing emerging AI trends and user insights to reimagine legacy workflows into an innovative, cohesive user experience.
- Manage a talented group of designers while actively shaping the culture, operations, and identity of the broader Gmail UX organization to foster innovation, collaboration, and grit.
- Collaborate closely with UX and cross-functional leads across Gmail and Google Workspace, bringing a strong, principled design point of view to decision-making for 3+ billion global users.
- Guide the team in developing positioning frameworks, user journeys, prototypes, and end-to-end specs, clearly communicating design concepts and rationale to cross-functional peers.
- Uphold an uncompromising bar for design quality across desktop and mobile surfaces, successfully driving outcomes from minimum lovable products through to general availability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in product design or UX.
- 5 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.
- 3 years of work experience working with executive leaders.
- 2 years of experience designing and shipping user experiences for Generative AI products.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
- Experience working with component based design systems, as well as prototyping with AI, web or mobile based technologies.
- Strong core interaction design skills, knowledge of user-centric design methodologies.
- Experience simplifying complexity through design.
- Proficient with industry standard design and prototyping tools.
- Strong grasp of emerging AI technology and trends in productivity.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for platforms such as desktop and mobile.

Pay
US: $236,000 - $330,000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits
