Senior Staff Scientist (Innovation Lab; North Reading, MA)
About the role
The Innovation Lab is an advanced R&D team within the Semiconductor Test Division at Teradyne. Our dual charter includes supporting the growth of the division and company through the creation of long-term differentiated solutions for our core Semiconductor Test business, as well as developing innovative solutions for new business opportunities adjacent to our core business.
Responsibilities
- Create long-term differentiated solutions for our core Semiconductor Test business by exploring new technologies and architectures to meet current and emerging customer needs.
- Develop differentiated solutions for new business opportunities adjacent to our core business, enabling new businesses within our existing customer base.
- Propose and own projects that can make a difference relative to the Innovation Lab Charter, leading the development through a proof-of-concept phase.
- Lead the execution of projects, often working hands-on, with support from other staff members as needed.
- Take risks to move the needle for the area associated with each project.
Requirements
- MS in Physics Preferred or MS in Engineering
- At least 15 years of working experience in design engineering with a focus on developing innovative technical solutions.
- Experience in the architectural definition of products leading to competitive differentiation.
- Broad technical curiosity, versatility in multiple technologies and engineering disciplines, and an "out of the box" bias in problem-solving.
- Technical expertise in one or more of the following: Instrumentation Architecture, Logic Design, Software, ASIC Technology, System Architecture, High Performance Signal Delivery, Optics, Thermal Control.
- Knowledge and preferably experience in the Semiconductor Industry and Semiconductor Testing.
- Comfortable in customer-facing and senior management interactions.
Qualifications

Pay
The base salary range for this role is $166,300 - $266,100. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
