Senior Staff Scientist
General Responsibilities
- Carry out environmental site investigations, assessments, and surveys to sample, measure, and analyze air, water, materials, and soil.
- Evaluate and recommend risk and remediation strategies and designs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Create and submit applicable permit applications, risk assessments, and technical documents such as proposals, reports, and regulatory agency correspondence.
- Design systems and environmental protection plans.
- Conduct tasks including Phase I/II environmental site assessments, ecological and natural resource field surveys, tank closure assessments, asbestos abatement, storm water management, and site planning and permitting.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities
- Adhere to safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects.
- Participate in pre-task planning.
- Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Incorporate quality leadership practices into daily work routines.
- Maintain consistent quality standards on proposals and project deliveries.
- Lead and supervise field staff in sampling, testing, collecting data, and documenting site activities.
- Implement technical requirements to complete client projects.
- Analyze complex laboratory and field data and compile it into written reports.
- Communicate with clients regarding specific projects and tasks.
- Oversight of work performed by lower-level scientists and engineers.
- Work under the supervision of a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related science field with a minimum of 5 years’ related experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- A valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history may be required.
- Required Certification: Certification in field of expertise required.
