Senior Staff Nurse – Oncology

Location: London, Private Care at Guy’s (Part of London Bridge Hospital) | Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week | Contract: Permanent

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Staff Nurse to join our specialist cancer nursing team at Private Care at Guy’s, part of London Bridge Hospital. This state-of-the-art cancer centre has been rated Outstanding by the CQC and is one of the UK’s most advanced private oncology facilities, offering a full range of services including theatres, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and dedicated oncology and surgical wards.

Our team delivers pioneering treatments such as robotic surgery, JACIE-accredited stem cell transplants for blood cancers and Multiple Sclerosis, and revolutionary bispecific antibody therapies—available exclusively in the private sector through our hospital.

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in providing holistic, high-quality care to patients across all stages of cancer treatment. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will support patients receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapies, and other Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT). Leadership will underpin your role, including shift leading, dynamic decision-making, and collaborating on staffing to align with patient allocation. You will also assume clinical responsibility for patients undergoing transplant and those enduring oncological complications.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and implement personalised care plans for oncology patients.
• Safely administer chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapies, and other SACT.
• Manage complex symptoms with a focus on pain control, nutrition, and emotional support.
• Act as a key advocate for patients, ensuring their physical and psychological needs are met with empathy and professionalism.
• Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities, including shift leading and dynamic decision-making.
• Collaborate on staffing to align with patient allocation.
• Provide clinical responsibility for patients undergoing transplant and those with oncological complications.

Requirements

• Current NMC Nurse registration.
• Experience in Chemotherapy administration (SACT).
• Post-registration experience within oncology cancer care.
• Clinical skills in venepuncture, cannulation, and intravenous drug administration.
