Senior Staff Mechanical Systems Integration Engineer

About the Role

Serve as an integration lead for different Mechanical subsystems on a next-gen wideband MILSATCOM system comprised of integrated space and ground segments. This position supports the final design, development, production, integration, test, and delivery of critical mechanical systems.

This position is contingent on program award, expected in 3Q 2026.

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition of mechanical system interfaces
• Support the requirement decomposition and allocation process with the Requirements team
• Drive anomaly investigations to closure
• Lead the definition, analysis, and recommendation of Trade Study options related to the mechanical systems
• Perform data and document reviews and provide feedback for technical and program documentation
• Support systems/hardware integration, test planning and execution, and identify opportunities for build flow and test efficiencies
• Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems at all levels (concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal)
• Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
• Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications

Requirements

• Missile or space segment architecture, design, assembly, integration, and test experience from component through system level with one or more subsystems or disciplines outside of Systems Engineering
• Spacecraft integration expertise in multiple spacecraft subsystems
• Experience in a technical leadership role and driving issues/challenges to closure
• Familiarity with Systems Engineering and mission assurance fundamentals necessary for delivering the highest reliability space systems
• Skilled in Creo CAD modeling and CAD control with experience reading/interpreting mechanical detail design drawings
• Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning expertise
• Experience with mechanical analysis and analytic tools (Creo, CreoView, MathCAD, etc.)
• Ability to obtain a DOD SECRET Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a technical discipline, or a closely related field
• 12+ years' engineering experience
• Systems Engineering experience in one or more Systems Integration functions, including:
  • System trade studies methodology and/or System modeling
  • Requirements and Interface Control Document (ICD) development
  • System Integration, Test and/or Verification
  • Test planning and execution with an understanding of all the interdependencies
  • Design reviews

Desired Skills

• Prior experience as spacecraft or mechanical subsystem/component CPE
• Ability to evaluate data from spacecraft subsystem providers (e.g., bus, payload) and demonstrate compatibility, assess requirements compliance, identify and resolve risks, and implement opportunities for improved solutions vs. system requirements
• Experience ensuring the physical compatibility of hardware products throughout the full lifecycle of the program
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts in DOORS and Cameo
• Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner, work independently, and leverage best practices
• Recognized as an authority in systems thinking techniques with the demonstrated ability to apply them to a wide range of complex problems and train others in their application
• Demonstrated behaviors of a systems problem solver; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve very sophisticated problems and implement constructive change
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex design information, technical decisions, and issues to an audience with varied technical backgrounds
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build solid relationships with team members
• Active secret clearance
• Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $145,100.00 - $269,500.00
