Senior Staff Engineer/Scientist, Bioinformatics

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze large-scale multi-omic data to delineate technical artifacts from biological signals.
• Design and implement novel computational methods to improve signal detection and reduce compute costs.
• Develop and maintain robust analysis pipelines.
• Build and optimize reproducible workflows in cloud and HPC environments with attention to cost and scalability.
• Identify and resolve technical artifacts through cohort-level and assay-aware analysis.
• Partner with wet-lab scientists to diagnose and address assay artifacts.
• Communicate findings clearly and contribute to technical decision-making.

Qualifications

• Education: Ph.D. in computational biology, computer science, statistics, genomics, or related field
• Required: 6+ years of professional experience in bioinformatics or closely related roles.
• Ability to distinguish biological signal from technical noise using a variety of statistical, machine learning and deep learning methodologies.
• Proficiency in programming languages frequently used for both ad hoc and scalable production multi-omic analyses.
• Experience developing reproducible workflows in cloud or HPC environments.
• PREFERRED: Experience optimizing compute costs at scale
• Experience developing commercial products
