About the role

The Senior Staff Power Engineer develops new electrical systems and circuits for various applications. Responsibilities include researching system ideas, creating schematics and system specifications, testing, simulating, validating, and qualifying systems, and providing support throughout manufacturing. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, including designers, customers, manufacturing engineering, and project leadership, to ensure robust and high-quality product development. The engineer will enhance designs based on feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design, and simulations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement technical solutions for complex projects.
  • Participate in project planning and scheduling.
  • Act as a global Subject Matter Expert (SME) with comprehensive knowledge and industry recognition.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to a global team of engineers.
  • Take responsibility for non-technical elements of engineering projects (e.g., people, financials).
  • Review and interpret customer specifications; may act as primary customer contact.
  • Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions.
  • Develop deployment strategies and plans for strategic technologies/programs.
  • Lead and coordinate global deployment efforts.
  • Manage relationships with key vendors and partners.
  • Design, modify, and implement systems that meet customer and company needs (e.g., schematics, bills of material, diagrams, drawings).
  • Stay up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations.
  • Solve complex problems.
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
  • Analyze and interpret data and information.
  • Recommend modifications for systems.
  • Create reports and documentation.
  • Serve as a recognized expert in one or more technical areas.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of DC/DC power topologies and trade-offs.
  • Experience designing power systems for networking, compute, or storage products.
  • Experience with high-current, high-phase count designs for ASICs and GPUs.
  • Experience with PCB stack-up, power planes, and tools used to simulate voltage gradients.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and CAD layout tools.
  • Proficiency with circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE and LTSPICE.
  • Knowledge of high-density power modules and Vertical Power Delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present effectively to various audiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 11 to 14 years of relevant experience.

Physical Demands

  • Duties performed in a normal office environment.
  • May require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Pay

Target range: $150,000 - $210,000 USD per year.
