About the role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer in our New York City or Morristown, NJ locations, you will be joining a team that provides a range of skills as part of an integrated building services design. Our diverse range of skills include medium voltage to low voltage power distribution system design, power studies (short circuit, coordination, and arc flash), lighting design, transportation and aviation infrastructure fire and life safety systems, water/wastewater facilities, mission critical environments, and renewable energy infrastructure.

You’ll manage multiple projects simultaneously, including design, calculations, contract drawings, specifications, and basis of design reports. The role includes delegating work to junior staff and overseeing drawings, specifications, and calculations to ensure they meet applicable codes and project requirements. You will also attend client meetings, interface with contractors and vendors with minimal supervision, and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Design full low and medium voltage electrical systems, including power, emergency power systems, batteries, lighting, fire alarm, and signaling systems.
• Lead the preparation of contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for complex projects from planning studies to final design.
• Design lighting systems, including associated control systems.
• Prepare load analysis for each stage of design.
• Prepare detailed project electrical systems drawings.
• Prepare basis of design reports and technical specifications for projects.
• Expertly apply knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering and design concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines related to the electrical engineering industry.
• Select and prepare specifications for electrical equipment.
• Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and with project architects across multiple locations.
• Manage several different assignments simultaneously.
• Work with a Senior Level Electrical Engineer for quality control and quality assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
• Professional Engineer licensure.
• Experience working for an MEP firm, focusing on Mission Critical applications.
• Experience designing medium-voltage distribution systems and emergency generation.
• Proficiency in Revit and 3D CADD.
• Knowledge of NFPA Standards.
• Working knowledge of other building systems (e.g., door finish hardware, IT building communications, lighting controls, and BAS networks) as they relate to electrical systems.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $130,000.00 to $225,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Schedule

Hybrid working policy, allowing employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
