About the role

The Senior Staff Electrical Engineer will join an exceptional team of electrical engineers responsible for the development of electronics for Aurora’s custom hardware. This role involves collaborating with numerous internal and external teams to gather requirements, define hardware architecture, model, and deliver electronics that meet performance and product metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Build, integrate, test, and debug electronics on the bench and in systems; leverage software tools and advanced test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers)
  • Partner with mechanical, operations, and validation teams to mature high-quality electrical designs to manufacturing; including supporting test infrastructure development to meet product coverage and yield targets
  • Leverage expertise in product development (define/build/test), and have extensive prior experience launching products
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers
  • Help define and optimize processes to streamline product development

Requirements

  • This role requires a bachelor's or master's degree with a focus in electrical or computer engineering
  • 10+ years experience in industry developing complex electrical hardware
  • Experience working with Mechanical engineering team on board design and device cooling
  • Expertise in system architecture, signal and power integrity design and analysis, high speed signaling, grounding, analog electronics
  • Extensive experience with hardware productization: system, board and chip level implementation
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals supported by the use of CAD tools to capture schematic designs, manage PCB layout, leverage Power/Signal simulation/emulation input
  • Expertise with lab instruments (TDR, Oscilloscopes, Analyzers, DMMs, Power Supplies, and E-loads)

Qualifications

  • Desirable Qualifications: Experience with custom sensor development and/or network design; Knowledge of automotive requirements, safety framework (ISO26262) and qualification processes; Experience with both rapid prototyping and design for manufacturing; Programming and Scripting (C++, Python or equivalent) experience; FPGA/ASIC Design experience

Benefits

Aurora offers a competitive base salary range of $197,000 - $285,000 per year, with the successful candidate’s starting base pay determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
