JOB SUMMARY

This position is for a Staff Design Engineer. The main responsibility of the Staff Design Engineer is to design, simulate, test, and verify new MMIC designs with a focus on Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) switch development as well as related SOI products and technologies. This role will require access to information controlled under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR, 15 CFR §§ 730-780), and likely the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR, 22 CFR §§ 120-130), and so applicants for this position must be one of a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or other Protected Individual (as defined under 8 USC § 1324b(a)(3)).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design new state-of-the-art silicon microwave monolithic integrated circuit (MMIC) circuits
  • Layout new MMICs, perform design rule checks, and perform layout vs. schematic checks
  • Interact with foundries to validate PDK models and tape out new wafers
  • Able and willing to characterize products hands on in the lab when required to meet project schedule
  • Support applications engineering, technical sales, and product line management when required
  • Support of products through the entire product development and production release cycle
  • Definition of product specifications and development of test plans
  • Prepare for design review meetings

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's or MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, RF Engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years of hands-on silicon development experience

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Proven ability to design and support the production release of silicon MMIC products
  • Experience with common high frequency packaging techniques
  • Competency in the Cadence Virtuoso development environment
  • Experience with 3D electromagnetics simulation tools including: Momentum, EMX, HFSS
