Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and oversee the company's fixed asset accounting processes, including asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals, transfers, and reconciliations.
- Manage lease accounting activities in accordance with applicable accounting standards (ASC 842), including lease setup, modifications, remeasurements, and ongoing compliance.
- Cook with internal stakeholders to ensure the timely and accurate recording of capital expenditures and lease transactions.
- Support annual audits by preparing fixed asset and lease accounting documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end close processes.
- Analyze general ledger activity to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP.
- Produce financial reports and assist in the preparation of financial statements for management and leadership review.
- Collaborate closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Tax Compliance, Project Accounting, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Aid in annual budgeting efforts and provide financial analysis to operational and business unit leaders.
- Assist with internal and external audits and ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain accounting process documentation.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency through automation and system enhancements.
- Serve as a resource for leadership by providing financial insights and recommendations that support business decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant experience in general ledger accounting, fixed asset accounting, and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including fixed asset accounting and lease accounting requirements (ASC 842).
- Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and present financial information to management.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Public accounting experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL or similar ERP systems.
- Experience with a fixed asset or lease accounting software.
- CPA License.
- Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
- Experience supporting external audits and implementing process improvements.
