Senior Staff Accountant

About the role
The Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations while ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and process efficiency. This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working independently, taking ownership of responsibilities, and contributing across multiple areas of the accounting function.
The role will support general accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, treasury activities, and process improvements. The successful candidate will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver accurate financial information that supports business decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries including accruals, allocations, reclassifications, and recurring entries
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner
- Manage accounting activities related to fixed assets, leases, prepaid expenses, and accruals
- Support month-end and year-end close processes while ensuring reporting deadlines are met
- Prepare management reports, KPI dashboards, financial analyses, and supporting schedules
- Monitor customer invoicing, cash application activities, and account reconciliations
- Support accounts payable processing and banking activities as needed
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and working capital management
- Support internal and external audits and help maintain strong internal controls
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and accounting efficiencies
- Partner with Finance, Operations, HR, and leadership teams on accounting-related matters and business initiatives
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff when needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on responsibility in staff or senior accountant roles
- Strong experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Thorough understanding of GAAP and standard accounting principles
- Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and provide solutions
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with accounting and financial systems
- Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders
- Self-motivated professional with a high level of accountability, ownership, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction in a flexible work environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CMA certification
- Experience with Sage Intacct ERP
- Experience improving month-end close processes and accounting workflows
- Process documentation and standard operating procedure development experience
- Experience leveraging technology and automation tools to improve efficiency

Pay
$85,000 to $90,000
