Senior SQL Server Developer / Database Architect
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Server Developer / Database Architect to lead the design and implementation of database solutions that preserve historical data from two retiring enterprise systems. This individual will independently design, build, and implement cloud-hosted SQL Server databases that allow authorized users to easily search and retrieve historical records after the legacy applications have been retired. The primary project will focus on historical training and certification records, followed by a similar solution for historical grant data. This is a hands-on, project-focused position that requires someone to own the complete solution, from database architecture and configuration through data loading, user access, documentation, and development of a functional search interface.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud-hosted Microsoft SQL Server databases for long-term historical data storage.
- Develop relational database structures, including tables, relationships, indexes, views, stored procedures, and other database objects.
- Establish a historical repository for training and certification records extracted from Cornerstone LMS.
- Build a second database solution for archived grant management records.
- Load and organize legacy data extracts supplied by internal data resources.
- Develop a simple, user-friendly search interface that lets nontechnical staff find and retrieve historical records.
- Optimize database queries and structures for reliable, efficient data retrieval.
- Configure database security, permissions, and access controls.
- Troubleshoot database, application, and data-related issues independently.
- Create technical documentation supporting future administration and maintenance.
