Senior SQL Server Cloud Database Administrator

About the role

We are working with a leading technology integrator and solutions provider that supports critical government missions with innovative engineering, IT, and science solutions. This organisation is seeking a highly skilled individual to join their dedicated team and contribute to significant national projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL migration efforts from on-premises to AWS and Azure cloud environments.
• Design, implement, and maintain database architecture, capacity planning, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Configure, manage, and optimize AWS and Azure Cloud SQL and Managed Instances (MI).
• Mentor other DBAs on AWS and Azure Cloud best practices and automate operational workflows.
• Ensure the security, availability, reliability, and scalability of mission-critical database systems.
• Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning for enterprise database platforms.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in SQL Server administration; 4 years of experience can substitute for a degree.
• Expertise in migrating SQL Always-on and SQL Cluster to AWS and Azure Cloud (IaaS and PaaS).
• Strong hands-on experience managing large, high-availability database environments in hybrid and cloud settings.
• SQL Server and AWS or Azure Cloud certifications are required.
• Proficiency in SQL Server installation, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting performance issues.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance and work on-site in Washington, DC.
