Senior SQL Database Administrator (SQL DBA) - Locals Only

About the Role

Client is seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator to support and maintain a large Microsoft SQL Server environment consisting of approximately 12 SQL clusters. This consultant will be responsible for database administration, performance optimization, high availability solutions, disaster recovery planning, and overall SQL infrastructure support.

Ideal Candidate

• Senior-level SQL DBA with extensive enterprise SQL Server experience
• Background supporting large clustered SQL environments
• Strong expertise in mirroring, clustering, indexing, and performance tuning
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with multiple technical teams
• Able to start immediately
• Located within driving distance of Lincoln or Omaha, Nebraska

Responsibilities

• Support and administer an environment consisting of approximately 12 SQL Server clusters
• Manage SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Perform database mirroring administration and support
• Design and maintain effective indexing strategies
• Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues
• Optimize queries and database operations for performance and scalability
• Administer backup, recovery, and maintenance processes
• Monitor database health, capacity, and availability
• Work closely with infrastructure, application, and development teams
• Create and maintain documentation for database systems and processes

Requirements

• 7+ years of SQL Server Database Administration experience
• Strong experience managing enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments
• Hands-on experience with SQL clustering technologies
• Experience supporting and administering SQL Server Mirroring
• Deep knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery methodologies
• Advanced database performance tuning and troubleshooting experience
• Strong understanding of indexing strategies and query optimization
• Experience managing SQL backups, restores, and recovery processes
• Experience supporting multiple production SQL instances and clusters
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Skills

• SQL Server Always On Availability Groups experience
• PowerShell scripting and automation experience
• Experience working in healthcare environments
• Azure SQL or hybrid cloud exposure
• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring and database management tools
