Senior Specialty Underwriter - Automotive
About the role
You will play a key role in underwriting new business and renewals across all Business Units, with a strong focus on U.S. Automotive Specialty business and cross-border global quotations. You will bring deep U.S. market expertise, collaborate closely with Sales and underwriting leadership, and help drive profitable growth across the portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate Automotive Specialty quotations globally, with primary focus on U.S. business
- Partner closely with the Senior Lead and Head of Pricing & Underwriting on core business initiatives
- Collaborate with the U.S. Specialty team to manage and grow the portfolio
- Serve as a key point of contact with Pricing, Network Management, Technical Product, Monitoring, and other stakeholders as needed
- Underwrite and renew accounts to support profitable growth
- Develop technical pricing offers in collaboration with Business Units, Sales, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Reinsurance
- Ensure adherence to underwriting authority, governance standards, and the four-eyes principle
- Support Sales negotiations and contribute to Pricing and Actuarial initiatives
- Align underwriting decisions with the Line of Business strategy, risk appetite, and product guidelines
- Operate effectively in a technology-enabled environment, leveraging AI, data analytics, and cloud-based tools responsibly and in line with governance and ethical standards
Requirements
Candidates must reside in one of the authorized states listed below and be legally eligible to work in the US: Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, South Carolina, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia), Tennessee.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (e.g., actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, or business) preferred
- CPCU designation is a plus
- At least 4 years of experience in case underwriting, pricing, or actuarial roles
- Experience in Automotive Underwriting would be a plus
- Strong strategic mindset with the ability to align daily work to business objectives
- Solid financial acumen and understanding of profitability drivers
- Comfort working with pricing models, assumptions, and actuarial methodologies
- Proven experience in specialty risk assessment and risk management
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to present complex topics effectively
- Proven experience contributing to and leading projects or workstreams
- Adaptability and effectiveness in a changing environment
- Familiarity with Allianz products, processes, or systems is a plus

- Fluency in written and spoken English
Benefits
Annualized base pay range is $87,300 - $130,000 USD. Actual base pay may vary based upon factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity of peers, and geographic location. Employees may also qualify for performance-based bonuses, merit increases, and other incentives based on individual and company performance.
