About the role
L3Harris is seeking a Senior Specialist, Tool Design Engineer to join our team at our Camden, AR location. This role is located in a state-of-the-art facility focused on innovation and producing essential energetic assemblies for rocket propulsion.
Responsibilities
- Develop manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes.
- Participate with engineering project teams to coordinate the release of new products.
- Design manufacturing tooling for the production of solid fuel rocket motors and warheads.
- Design jigs, fixtures, lifting devices, and semi-automated equipment to cast and assemble the final product.
- Design major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
- Utilize CAD equipment to develop basic data and make preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals.
- Investigate and make decisions regarding pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements, and cost.
Qualifications
- Experience with job area and practical knowledge of project management.
- May manage projects or processes with general supervision.
- Communicates with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.
- Recommends enhancements to systems and processes.
- Works to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.
- Interface with production, program management, and safety to develop requirements and tooling needs.
- Define existing equipment problems, design repairs and modifications.
- Ability to obtain a US Secret security clearance.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience working in the defense industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of air controls.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Employees work 10 hours per day, 4 days a week.
