Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automated patching frameworks for: o Oracle (including RAC & Exadata) o SQL Server o IBM Db2 o MongoDB, MySQL / MariaDB, PostgreSQL & Cassandra
  • Develop end to end patching pipelines including: o Version discovery o Prechecks/post checks o Compliance validation o Reporting and dashboards
  • Build and maintain Automation Workflows using Rundeck, Ansible, Terraform, MFO, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps
  • Create and maintain scripts using Python and other scripting languages (Shell, PowerShell).
  • Integrate automation workflows with monitoring, scheduling, and orchestration tools.
  • Integrate patching automation with CMDB, service management, and change control workflows (ServiceNow preferred).
  • Collaborate with OS, Database, and Security teams to ensure compliant and scalable automation.
  • Troubleshoot automation failures and optimize existing automation processes.
  • Document automation designs, workflows, and operational procedures.

Mandatory Skills

  • Automation Tools: o Ansible (playbooks, roles, inventories) o Rundeck (job orchestration, scheduling) o Terraform, GitLab CI/CD o MFO (Managed File Processing / relevant enterprise automation tool)
  • Programming & Scripting: o Python (strong hands-on experience) o Shell scripting (Bash) and/or PowerShell
  • Automation Expertise: o Proven experience implementing patching automation solutions o Automation for large-scale enterprise environments

Added Advantage (Good to Have)

  • Strong knowledge of Operating Systems: o Linux (RHEL, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu) o Windows Server
  • Database Knowledge: o Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL, or other enterprise databases o Understanding of database patching concepts
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines or DevOps tools
  • Exposure to monitoring and ing tools
  • Knowledge of security and compliance requirements related to patching

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Has implemented automation solutions from design to production, not just consumed them
  • Hands-on experience automating patching at scale
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Comfortable working in a large enterprise, cross-functional environment
  • Able to clearly document and explain automation workflows
