Senior Specialist, Project Engineering
The Advanced Missile Propulsion & Technologies (AMPT) Project Engineering Department is seeking an experienced engineer for a full-time position at the West Palm Beach, FL campus to support the development of air breathing hypersonic programs.
About the Role
The AMPT Project Engineer will lead program execution across all phases; from initial concept design to hardware delivery of airbreathing assets. The senior specialist engineer communicates and influences within and outside of their own function or business area and has responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (customers, vendors, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Lead or support engineering teams working on airbreathing hypersonic propulsion development.
- Direct and coordinate multi-discipline engineering tasks to meet program requirements.
- Manage technical progress and cost.
- Interface with the program manager, product line chief engineer, L3Harris AMPT customers and other L3Harris Missile Solutions functional organizations to understand and develop resolutions to program technical issues.
- Provide technical consultation to program management and business development organizations on business development activities such as writing white papers or preparing and presenting technical briefings to customers.
- Provide written and verbal status reports to L3Harris AMPT Management and provide leadership at product team meetings.
- Up to 10% business travel to suppliers and other production sites.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or other related field) and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

- Active Secret Security Clearance
- Experience leading multi-disciplined teams
- Microsoft Office Experience (Project, Word, etc.)
- Demonstrated program execution ability
- Knowledge and experience with air-breathing high-speed propulsion systems used in defense applications
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability/Design to Cost
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with earned value management
- Familiarity with CAD software tools (CREO) is a plus

Pay
$X per hour or $Y per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
9/80; Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off.
