Job Description

L3Harris is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Huntsville, AL Headquarters location. The Senior Specialist, Project Engineering role will act as an IPT lead/CAM on the NGI (Next Generation Interceptor) program. This role involves leading, performing, and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management and technical leadership.

Essential Functions

  • Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques
  • Read, interpret, and write specifications and technical documents
  • Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project goals
  • Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments
  • Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas
  • Understanding and/or leads Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process
  • May be assigned Earned Value Management duties
  • Review and approve engineering drawings
  • Travel up to 10%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior Project Engineering experience
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior Project Engineering experience
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior Project Engineering experience

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline is preferred
  • Four (4) or more years of experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired
  • CAD knowledge is desirable
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical professionals at all levels
  • Ability to establish and maintain priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, in a collaborative, dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Strong time management skills
  • CAM experience desired

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off.
