Job Description
L3Harris is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Huntsville, AL Headquarters location. The Senior Specialist, Project Engineering role will act as an IPT lead/CAM on the NGI (Next Generation Interceptor) program. This role involves leading, performing, and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management and technical leadership.
Essential Functions
- Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques
- Read, interpret, and write specifications and technical documents
- Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project goals
- Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments
- Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas
- Understanding and/or leads Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process
- May be assigned Earned Value Management duties
- Review and approve engineering drawings
- Travel up to 10%
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior Project Engineering experience
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior Project Engineering experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior Project Engineering experience
Preferred Additional Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline is preferred
- Four (4) or more years of experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired
- CAD knowledge is desirable
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required
- Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical professionals at all levels
- Ability to establish and maintain priorities in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work well under pressure, in a collaborative, dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment
- Strong time management skills
- CAM experience desired
Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off.
