About the role

L3Harris is actively seeking a Sr. Specialist Project Engineer (PE) to support the execution of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on airborne platforms and development of our Digital ICE product line. In this role, the candidate will ensure the program technical development meets all technical, cost, and schedule requirements. The Project Engineer provides direction to individual Engineering Functional Task Leaders (Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Specialty Engineering, Logistic Engineering, Technical Publications, etc.) and serves as the key technical interface to customers throughout the program lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional engineering teams in program execution and bid/proposal activities.
• Provide technical leadership to resolve design and integration challenges for system integration efforts.
• Provide technical leadership on the integration of specialized hardware and software for Electronic Attack Mission Systems and Digital ICS products.
• Provide leadership in program planning, guidance, and engineering execution within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Track Engineering Performance Metrics and brief program status on a monthly basis to senior engineering leadership.
• Track cost and schedule execution, explain variances, and define corrective actions to meet program targets.
• Ensure program execution and Bid/Proposal development adhere to engineering processes and policies.
• Ensure compliance with performance, reliability, and safety standards.
• Plan and execute program activities, document and approve program plans, and ensure life-cycle process adherence.
• Identify and manage risks.
• Coordinate customer and senior leadership interactions throughout the program lifecycle.
• Travel as needed based on business demands.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience may substitute.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
• An active DoD Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
• Demonstrated experience in program planning, guidance, and engineering execution within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Demonstrated understanding of engineering processes and policies.
• Demonstrated experience in Aircraft Integration, Test, and Delivery.
• Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Software/Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering (including Test Engineering), Project Engineering.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Demonstrated experience in leadership roles such as Task Leader, IPT Leader, and/or Functional Manager.
• Demonstrated experience communicating with internal and external customer stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills.
