Senior Specialist, Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of major system components and adapt flexibly as program needs evolve.
• Provide technical leadership across the full engineering lifecycle from requirements definition and concept generation through material selection, trade studies, design optimization, documentation, and assembly/integration testing.
• Generate Technical Data Package components (Part and Assembly drawings, etc.).
• Prototype, integrate, and test component parts and assemblies.
• Develop test plans and procedures for mechanical subsystems.
• Perform test and evaluation of component parts and systems.
• Participate in peer reviews, PDRs, CDRs, and other required design reviews.
• Participate in product change review meetings and discussions and implement changes.
• Support field testing/demonstration efforts as an ME field representative.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
• Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
• Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance (or active within the last two years) and favorable polygraph required.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience in design or development of precision mechanisms, mechatronic systems, packaging of modules and electronics.
• Experience with actuators, custom gear trains, electro-optical systems, and materials testing.
• Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFMA) experience.
• Experience with machined part design, plastic and/or sheet metal part design.
• Additive manufacturing technologies and design best practices.
• Understanding of EVMS cost and schedule practices.
