About the role
Parsons is now hiring a Senior Space Planning Cost Estimator to work on projects that change the urban fabric of our community. We are looking for someone with project management and planning knowledge who can work on tough projects that will make a huge impact.
Responsibilities
- Review project, scope, drawings and specifications to develop comprehensive costs estimates for space planning and infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with Customer Service Liaisons, Interior Designers, and Project Managers to understand project requirements in support of cost estimate efforts.
- Oversees establishment of Project Execution Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents as required.
- Establishes the program requirements for all areas of the project and monitors the draft and final deliverables for adherence to these criteria.
- Develops a one to two-page description of the project to all members of the project team for reference.
- Mobilizes company resources, through liaison with support departments, other offices, or subsidiaries, to create project teams capable of completing effective, quality work.
- Discusses the qualifications required of the key project positions in specific detail with the profit center and department managers.
- Works with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to developing budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project.
- Ensures that the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans.
- Works with the key project individual to devise and execute actions plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work.
- Advises the client and company management of any such changes.
- The Project Manager is specifically responsible for maintaining current and timely change orders.
- Promotes technical and commercial excellence on the project through application of Quality Assurance processes.
- Makes sure the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans.
- Monitors and reports to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule.
- Establishes weekly meetings to review project status and formulate action items.
- Conducts architectural studies, field surveys, space assessments, and prepares related reports.
- Reviews CAD drawings, renderings, layouts, study models, construction documents, and color boards prepared by Architectural Designers.
- Ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Provides technical guidance to lower-level Architectural Designer/Drafters working on the same project.
- Assists with bid preparation and vendor negotiations.
- Maintains an database of costs data and historical estimates for reference.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications
- A 4-year degree in Engineering, Architectural, Construction Management or related technical/business field preferred.
- 12+ years of related work experience is required with experience in space planning preferred.
- Incumbent should have facilities and/or construction technical and estimating background, as well as previous project management experience on similar or related projects.
- Excellent analytical, organization and communication skills.
- AUTOCAD experience preferred.
- An active TS/SCI w/Polygraph Clearance Required.
- Must be US Citizen.
- Security Clearance Requirement An active Top Secret SCI w/Polygraph security clearance is required for this position.

$134,100.00 - $241,400.00
