About the role

We are currently seeking a skilled Senior Sourcing Engineer to work with our team in Basom, NY. You will:

  • Identify and research new suppliers and sourcing opportunities globally, with a strong focus on local sourcing when feasible
  • Regularly collaborate with engineering, product management, and production teams on material requirements
  • Develop and cultivate positive relationships with assigned supplier base as the escalation point of contact
  • Negotiate Master Supply Agreements with key suppliers per Company requirements
  • Use root-cause analysis to drive continuous improvement activities across 4 key performance indicators: quality, on-time delivery, cost, and net working capital
  • Develop and implement commodity strategies to map current and future states to determine continuous improvement activities
  • Utilize quoting, value engineering, make v. buy analysis, etc. to support corporate cost reduction efforts
  • Support Operational Purchasing team with vendor creation and maintenance
  • Collaborate with Operational Purchasing and Planning to ensure purchasing plans are optimized for production requirements and lowest TCO (Total Cost of Ownership)
  • Participate in regular supplier business reviews in collaboration with Operational Purchasing (Supplier Scorecard Reviews)
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external key stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing or procurement in a production environment
  • Solid negotiation skills
  • Results focused with the ability to report on KPIs
  • Analyze and use critical thinking, looking into problems and identifying root causes with facts, numbers, and sound logic
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications
  • Casting, machining, assembly, and metal fabrication processes are a plus
  • Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing, a second language is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
  • Experience with MRP systems, SAP preferred

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain or equivalent experience
