About the role

Appian’s Solutions Consulting team is in the midst of an exciting transformation—redefining what it means to be a trusted advisor in today’s fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Our SCs don’t just demo features—they tell stories, co-create with customers, and help shape strategy with technical credibility and business insight.

In this role, you will be a senior Solutions Consultant supporting pharma, biotech, medtech, and CRO clients. While you do not need to be a scientist, you should understand how Life Sciences organizations operate.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor for customers, partners, sales, product, marketing, and company leadership
  • Drive customer understanding of the business value Appian’s technology can provide during the sales cycle and beyond
  • Combine creative persona-based storytelling, technical solutioning, and business consulting
  • Respond to all functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Strategically problem-solve by thinking outside-the-box to create innovative solutions addressing complex Life Sciences challenges
  • Identify how Appian can fit into the wider organization
  • Engage in technical discussions with Appian’s product team
  • Up to 70% travel to customer locations throughout the assigned region

Requirements

  • Deep and recent expertise in the Life Sciences industry, demonstrated through knowledge of business processes such as Clinical Development, Quality Management, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Manufacturing, and/or Medical Affairs
  • Experience supporting digital transformation initiatives within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or contract research organizations
  • Understanding of GxP environments, FDA regulations, 21 CFR Part 11, and validated system requirements (strongly preferred)
  • Experience working in an enterprise software sales position OR a client-facing technology advisory role within a Life Sciences institution or ISV (e.g., in transformation, architecture, or strategy)
  • Technical depth to respond to all functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience with customer interaction, requirements analysis, and presentations
  • Familiarity with production environments (application servers, web servers, databases)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years as a successful Pre-Sales Engineer OR 6+ years in a Professional Services/Consulting role, with a significant focus (3+ years) in the Life Sciences Industry
  • Advanced degree (MS, MBA, PharmD, MPH, or PhD) (preferred)
  • Ability to fluently speak a second language, preferably Portuguese (preferred)

Pay

Base Salary Range: $125,000 USD - $250,000 USD. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan. Actual compensation will be dependent on relevant work experience, qualifications, internal peer equity, and market conditions.
