Senior Solutions Consultant - Life Sciences
About the role
As a senior Solutions Consultant, you will support pharma, biotech, medtech, and CRO clients. While you do not need to be a scientist, you should understand how Life Sciences organizations operate.

Our Solution Consultants tell stories, co-create with customers, and shape strategy with technical credibility and business insight. They are the driving force behind helping customers understand the business value of Appian’s technology during the sales cycle and beyond, acting as trusted advisors for customers, partners, sales, product, marketing, and company leadership.
Responsibilities
- Leverage deep Life Sciences industry expertise to support digital transformation initiatives within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or contract research organizations.
- Apply knowledge of Life Sciences business processes such as Clinical Development, Quality Management, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Manufacturing, and/or Medical Affairs.
- Address functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs with strategic problem-solving and innovative solutions for complex Life Sciences challenges.
- Identify how Appian can integrate into the wider organization and fit into GxP environments, FDA regulations, and validated system requirements.
- Engage in technical discussions with Appian’s product team and communicate effectively with customers through presentations, requirements analysis, and interactions.
- Utilize creative persona-based storytelling, technical solutioning, and business consulting to demonstrate Appian’s value.
Requirements
- Deep and recent expertise in the Life Sciences industry, demonstrated through knowledge of its business processes.
- Experience supporting digital transformation initiatives within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or contract research organizations.
- Understanding of GxP environments, FDA regulations, 21 CFR Part 11, and validated system requirements (strongly preferred).
- Experience working in an enterprise software sales position OR a client-facing technology advisory role within a Life Sciences institution or ISV (e.g., in transformation, architecture, or strategy).
- Technical depth to respond to all functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience with customer interaction, requirements analysis, and presentations.
- Familiarity with production environments (application servers, web servers, databases).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years as a successful Pre-Sales Engineer OR 6+ years in a Professional Services/Consulting role, with a significant focus (3+ years) in the Life Sciences Industry.
- Up to 70% travel to customer locations throughout the assigned region.
You may also have:
- An advanced degree (MS, MBA, PharmD, MPH, or PhD).
- The ability to fluently speak a second language, preferably Portuguese.
Pay
Base Salary Range: $125,000 USD - $250,000 USD. Actual compensation will depend on relevant work experience, qualifications, internal peer equity, and market conditions. Sales roles may be eligible for commission.
