Senior Solutions Architect, Great Lakes State & Local Government

About the role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a highly motivated Solutions Architect to help accelerate our growing business as part of the World Wide Public Sector practice. The Solutions Architect will help customers design and create cloud computing architectures, engage in deep-dive technical discussions, and provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership.

Responsibilities

• Owning the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects
• Defining implementation architectures, responding to Request for Proposals (RFPs), and developing a deep expertise in AWS technologies
• Developing a deep expertise in security as it relates to customer applications and services
• Providing exceptional technical design and thought leadership to customers
• Collaborating with a world-class sales and business development team
• Leading efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solution architect community

Requirements

• 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
• 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
• 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
• 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
• Experience working with end user or developer communities
• Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients

Qualifications

• Technical presentation experience – White board, small and large group presentations
• Technical – Web Services development/deployment experience, cloud computing
• Operational – Web site/services operations, management, and security

Skills

• Ability to travel 30%
