About the role

Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect to help accelerate our growing business as part of the World Wide Public Sector practice. As a Solutions Architect within AWS, you will shape and deliver a strategy to build broad use of Amazon's utility computing web services (e.g., AWS EC2, AWS S3, AWS RDS, Bedrock, SageMaker, and AWS CloudFront) directly with local government customers, system integrators, and solution providers.

You will own the technical engagement and success of specific implementation projects, define implementation architectures, respond to RFPs, develop deep expertise in AWS technologies, and serve as a subject matter expert on security for customer applications and services. You will provide technical design leadership, collaborate with a world-class sales and business development team, and help capture and share best-practice knowledge across the AWS solution architect community.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical engagement and ultimate success of specific implementation projects for local government customers.
  • Define implementation architectures and respond to RFPs.
  • Develop deep expertise in AWS technologies and broad know-how around application construction using the AWS platform.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services.
  • Provide technical design and thought leadership to customers while working with a world-class sales and business development team.
  • Lead efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge among the AWS solution architect community.
  • Collaborate with and learn from some of the brightest technical minds in enterprise architecture.
  • Engage in deep-dive technical discussions around design and maintain intellectual curiosity to keep technical skills current.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in specific technology domain areas (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
  • 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications and infrastructures.
  • 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting experience in the software or Internet industries.
  • Technical presentation experience (whiteboard, small and large group presentations).
  • Web services development/deployment experience and cloud computing expertise.
  • Experience in web site/services operations, management, and security.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience.
  • Knowledge of SAP systems (e.g., SAP Business Suite, S/4HANA, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP HANA, SAP Business Objects) and their architecture/infrastructure needs.
  • Experience working with end user or developer communities.
  • Experience managing relationships with SAP customers and partners.
  • Experience architecting infrastructure solutions using both Linux/Unix and Windows, with specific recommendations on server, load balancing, HA/DR, and storage architectures.

Pay

Base salary range: $153,600.00 - $207,800.00 USD annually (locations: Irvine, CA; Santa Monica, CA). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
