About the role

Join OpenEye's Quality Engineering organization as a Senior Software QA Specialist, where you will serve as a technical quality leader responsible for driving product quality, mentoring team members, and ensuring successful delivery of OpenEye's cloud video, AI analytics, and hardware-integrated solutions. As a senior member of the Quality team, you will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Technical Support, and fellow Quality professionals to define testing strategies, identify quality risks, validate complex customer workflows, and continuously improve product quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quality efforts for complex features, releases, and cross-functional initiatives across cloud, web, firmware, hardware, AI analytics, and integrated platform solutions.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Technical Support, and stakeholders to identify quality risks, define validation strategies, and ensure customer requirements are effectively validated.
  • Create, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, exploratory tests, regression suites, integration tests, and end-to-end customer workflow validations.
  • Validate product functionality, usability, reliability, system integrations, APIs, and customer-facing workflows across software and hardware-connected solutions.
  • Drive testing efforts across multiple workstreams and coordinate validation activities to ensure release readiness and product quality objectives are achieved.
  • Investigate, document, reproduce, and verify software defects through resolution, including complex customer-reported issues requiring technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Perform technical validation activities including API testing, database validation, log analysis, configuration validation, and system-level troubleshooting.
  • Execute, maintain, and enhance automated test suites while collaborating with Software Engineers in Test (SETs) to improve automation coverage and testing effectiveness.
  • Analyze automated test results, identify product risks, investigate failures, and help drive corrective actions that improve release confidence.
  • Mentor Software QA Specialists and provide guidance on testing methodologies, product knowledge, technical validation, and quality best practices.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, release readiness activities, and quality sign-off processes while serving as a quality advocate throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, customer outcomes, testing effectiveness, and overall engineering excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen team capabilities, quality processes, automation adoption, and operational efficiency.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED required.
  • 8+ years of software quality assurance, software testing, or related experience in Agile development environments.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test strategy development, risk-based testing, defect management, and root cause investigation.
  • Advanced experience driving test strategy and executing test plans, test cases, performing different types of testing (eg: exploratory testing, regression testing, integration testing, etc) and end-to-end validation strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess quality risks, prioritize testing efforts, and drive quality initiatives across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Hands-on experience with API testing using tools such as Postman, Swagger, or similar technologies.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and database validation techniques.
  • Experience analyzing application logs and troubleshooting complex software and system-level issues.
  • Experience executing, maintaining, and expanding automated test suites with a strong understanding of automated testing concepts and quality engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted testing tools and modern approaches to quality engineering.
  • Experience using Jira, TestRail, Azure DevOps, or similar agile, quality and defect management platforms.
  • Familiarity with web applications, cloud platforms, client/server architectures, networking fundamentals, and hardware-integrated systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, leadership, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to influence quality outcomes across teams and effectively balance customer experience, product quality, and delivery objectives.
  • Continuous learning mindset with an interest in expanding technical, automation, and quality engineering capabilities.
  • Ability to work on site at our Liberty Lake, WA headquarters.
