Senior Software Engineering Manager (Onsite)
About the role
The role involves leading a team of software engineers through the design, development, and documentation of software engineering plans for large complex systems. It also includes attracting, engaging, and retaining a team of software engineers, performing hiring decisions, performance assessments, and personnel management, coordinating across engineering teams in the integration of large complex systems, utilizing automation and simulation tools, planning project level work and meeting schedule, cost, and performance goals, managing program technical risks by evaluating requirements and design aspects, interacting with a cross-functional team, and serving as a liaison between functional discipline groups and internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of software engineers through design, development and documentation of software engineering plans of large complex systems
- Arrange and engage a team of software engineers (10 – 15) to build critical software applications for a NO FAIL mission
- Coordinate across engineering teams in the integration of large complex systems, utilizing automation and simulation tools
- Plan project level work and meet schedule, cost, and performance goals
- Manage program technical risks by evaluating requirements and design aspects
- Interact with a cross-functional team of (including, but not limited to) Engineers, Engineering leaders, Program Managers, Business Developers, Finance, Quality, and Production
- Serve as a liaison between functional discipline groups and internal and external customers
Requirements
- Proven experience leading and mentoring a team of Software Engineers
- Effective communication skills with all levels of management, program team members, and external stakeholders
- Experience leading engineers through software development of applications
- Project Management, Control Account Management (CAM), and earned value experience
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of bidding and project/task estimation tools (e.g. SEER-SEM products)
- Experience with processes such as peer review, configuration, and change management
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Experience with flight deck, flight management system, or avionics software development
- Experience with model-based systems engineering and modeling practices
- Experience with Agile methodologies

Pay
The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD.
