Senior Software Engineer, Webshops
About the role
We're hiring for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join our LiveOps team. The webshop is the player-facing surface of Unity's broader Commerce Management Platform, which gives developers a single dashboard to manage their entire digital catalog, pricing, promotions, and payment providers across mobile app stores, web, and PC.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain conversion-focused webshop front-ends and multi-tenant backend services with strong reliability and SLA expectations.
- Ensure end-to-end quality across the stack, including performance, security, observability, and maintainability.
- Work in a small team to ship the initial GA version of Unity's webshops product.
- Rapidly iterate on features based on real customer usage and feedback.
- Prototype and refine features directly with game teams integrating the webshop into their titles.
- Collaborate with the team to shape requirements, propose UX flows, and influence the roadmap.
- Translate high-level product ideas into concrete specs, technical designs, and shipped software.
- Use AI tools aggressively throughout the development lifecycle for coding, scaffolding, refactoring, debugging, and exploratory design.
- Influence how this effort evolves into a larger platform, organization, or dedicated product line over time.
Requirements
- Extensive full-stack engineering experience, with a proven track record of independently building and shipping user-facing web products end-to-end.
- Strong front-end skills with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue), with attention to UX, performance, and conversion-oriented design.
- Strong backend skills building scalable, multi-tenant services and APIs, including reliability, observability, and performance tuning in production.
- Comfortable working across the full stack, from database to UI; language-flexible, with Golang experience as a plus.
- Actively uses AI today to enhance development and is excited to push the limits of AI-assisted workflows.
- Experience working closely with PMs to shape requirements and make tradeoffs, comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete specs, and inclined to propose solutions rather than wait for direction.
- Genuine interest in games and the gaming ecosystem.
- Thrives in small, autonomous teams with high expectations and a strong bias for shipping v1s quickly.
Qualifications
- Experience in game monetization, webshops, e-commerce (especially loyalty, personalization, or growth mechanics), payments and checkout infrastructure, or developer-facing platforms is a plus.
Skills
- Strong understanding of web technologies and protocols.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Knowledge of cloud services and infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Experience with database systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
- Experience with version control systems (Git).
