About the role

Unify is redefining go-to-market with state-of-the-art AI. This role is focused on scaling our core platform to support our hyper growth. Additionally, you'll partner directly with the founders to take brand-new product ideas from zero to one, set the technical vision, and establish engineering standards that will scale with the company.

Responsibilities

  • Scale Unify: Ensure that Unify can scale to support our hyper growth and provide a stable platform for large scale customers such as Cursor, Perplexity, and Decagon.
  • Drive the technical roadmap: Collaborate with Product, Design, and GTM stakeholders to translate ambiguous business goals into a clear, phased engineering plan.
  • Set the bar for engineering excellence: Establish coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, testing strategy, reliability targets, and observability practices that future teams will inherit.
  • Evaluate & integrate new tech: Rapidly prototype with third-party APIs, databases, model-serving platforms, and infra vendors to accelerate customer value.
  • Mentor & lead: Provide technical leadership for (and — if you’re up for it — manage) engineers across domains—pairing, reviewing, and unblocking as you go.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software-engineering experience
  • Deep, hands-on expertise scaling and operating PostgreSQL—designing partitioned/sharded schemas, tuning indexes and queries, automating backups and observability, and running resilient multi-TB clusters with replication and failover
  • Proven track record of shipping high-impact, production-grade systems at scale
  • Passion for customers: you prototype quickly, iterate on feedback, and sweat the edge-cases that matter
  • Collaborative, low-ego attitude with a history of mentoring engineers and leveling up the people around you
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, continuously grow, and master your craft

Qualifications

  • Experience with Python, Go, Rust, or other backend languages
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with database management systems (MySQL, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Experience with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Experience with machine learning and/or natural language processing

Benefits

  • Compensation: This is a salaried position with a target range of $225,000 - $265,000 (depending on experience), equity package and comprehensive benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) options).
  • Schedule: Hybrid in either San Francisco, CA, or New York City, NY, offering the invaluable opportunity to work closely with a talented team in a dynamic, high-energy environment.
  • Location: Being in-person enables real-time collaboration, fosters creative problem-solving, and strengthens the connections that drive innovation and impact.

Pay

This is a salaried position with a target range of $225,000 - $265,000 (depending on experience).
