About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Fresh Production team, you'll deliver complex code solutions, support the build and deployment pipeline, and diagnose and resolve production support or on-call issues. You'll contribute to overall system design, architecture, security, scalability, reliability, application performance, and provide end-to-end support.
Location: San Antonio, TX (Hybrid)
Responsibilities
- Works on technology projects/tasks with limited or no guidance.
- Writes production-ready code and tests that meet acceptance criteria, are easily testable, documented, and account for edge cases, security, and errors.
- Creates, configures, and supports build and deployment pipelines.
- Leads others in coding, configuration, maintaining, testing, and debugging existing or new systems; delivers quality features and bug fixes aligned with development processes.
- Leads effective production support or on-call, debugging, and troubleshooting of highly complex issues within team services.
- Identifies paths to resolution for most issues within team services.
- Demonstrates ownership of team services and influences the team, starting to learn how to influence across teams.
- Fosters a growth environment through mentorship and open collaboration with peers.
- Recommends and drives changes to processes and tools at the team level aligned with organizational and company goals.
- Reviews epics critically, ensuring dependencies are identified, broken down, prioritized, and understood by the team and stakeholders.
- Drives priority setting and urgency in alignment with organizational strategy.
- Anticipates and communicates blockers, delays, and cost overruns before escalation is required.
- Clarifies expectations within the team between all parties involved.
- Leads team ceremonies and larger team efforts, driving improvements within the assigned team.
- Mentors others and possesses expert knowledge in their area of focus.
- Fosters a culture of documentation and knowledge sharing within the team and with business stakeholders.
- Leads root cause analysis (RCA) and establishes action items.
- Works with other teams to resolve issues involving dependent services and communicates cross-team dependencies.
- Ensures system monitoring for team services is effective and adheres to best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software development as a full-stack engineer with an emphasis on the frontend.
- Experience with Python, Next.js, Spring Boot, and Kotlin.
- Experience with Cloud Computing (GCP).
- Experience with common software engineering tools (e.g., Git, Jira, Confluence).
- Experience producing consistent, high-quality results in a digital retail environment.
Skills
- Proficient in multiple programming languages, technologies, and frameworks.
- Advanced knowledge in system and data architecture, data modeling, and design, capable of architecting at the application or service level using well-accepted design patterns.
- Able to review platform designs for engineering strength, including performance, sustainability, and iterative development potential.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns, system architecture.
- Advanced understanding of development methodologies and processes.
- Proficient at analyzing memory and performance issues using profiling tools.
- High degree of personal accountability for self and team growth.
- Leverages Agile metrics to improve team performance and deliverables, adjusting resources as necessary.
- Ability to collaborate on tasks spanning multiple domains, requiring cross-team collaboration with high project impact.

Qualifications
- A Computer Science degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience.
Working Conditions
- Travel by car or plane with overnight stays may be required.
- Work extended hours and sit for extended periods.
- Work rotating and on-call schedules as needed.
