Senior Software Engineer - Motion Planning

About the role

The Senior Software Engineer - Motion Planning role at Latitude AI is part of the Motion Planning team, which integrates various components of the autonomy stack to plan safe and comfortable navigation for automated vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop algorithms in areas such as route planning, behavior planning, trajectory optimization, decision making, and machine learning
• Test algorithms extensively through unit testing, cloud simulation, log playback and resimulation, and vehicle testing
• Develop tools for visualization and debugging, and use them to analyze logs from fleet testing
• Analyze metrics from fleet testing to prioritize future development
• Optimize the runtime and memory efficiency of onboard Motion Planning software
• Coordinate with other autonomy teams to ensure Motion Planning receives necessary inputs

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or PhD
• Deep expertise in Motion Planning or Software Engineering (or both)
• Industry experience writing production-quality, performance-critical code and maintaining large codebases
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications

• Expertise in one or more areas of Motion Planning, such as graph or sampling-based planning in high-dimensional state spaces, computational geometry, behavioral planning and decision making, planning under uncertainty (POMDPs etc.), model-predictive planning and control, convex optimization, reinforcement learning, imitation learning, etc.
• A baseline level of skill in modern C++ programming and software engineering

• Python programming experience (helpful but not required)
