Senior Software Engineer, Mobile (React Native)

About the role

Forage is building the modern payments stack that powers inclusive commerce, enabling grocers, delivery platforms, and point-of-sale systems to accept EBT payments online and in‑store. The Mobile Engineer will lead large‑scale projects for the Forage EBT Shopper app, which lets SNAP EBT shoppers check their balance, collect rewards, and more. The role involves shaping frontend infrastructure, mentoring engineers, influencing technical vision, and collaborating closely with product managers.

Responsibilities

• Lead large multi‑engineer projects for the Forage EBT Shopper app.
• Balance business priorities, user experience, and technical sustainability when trading off new feature requests and necessary engineering improvements.
• Influence frontend development at Forage by sharing technical vision and providing guidance.
• Make teammates more effective through better frontend infrastructure and tooling.
• Mentor teammates and others around frontend best practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of mobile engineering experience building end‑to‑end user solutions.
• Experience in React Native, especially having built an app from scratch.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives within your team, mentoring engineers through design and delivery, contributing meaningfully to roadmap discussions, and independently driving complex projects from design through execution.

Pay

Base salary range: $185,000 – $200,000 (equity is a significant part of total compensation and is not included in this range).

Schedule

Hybrid role: 2‑3 days in office in New York or San Francisco; remote within North America considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
