Senior Software Engineer, Mobile (React Native)

About the role

We seek an experienced Mobile Engineer with a strong background in building comprehensive user solutions and frontend infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of mobile development experience, ideally in React Native. We will prioritize candidates who have built a React Native app from scratch or who have meaningfully contributed to a production app. You will lead large-scale projects for our app for EBT shoppers, which allows them to check their SNAP balance, collect rewards and more. You will ship critical projects and establish best practices for frontend development for the team.

Responsibilities

• Lead large multi-engineer projects for the Forage EBT Shopper app.
• Balance business priorities, user experience, and technical sustainability in trade-offs when balancing new feature requests and necessary engineering improvements.
• Influence frontend development at Forage by sharing technical vision and providing guidance.
• Mentor teammates and others around frontend best practices.

Requirements

• 3+ years of mobile engineering experience building end-to-end user solutions.
• Experience in React Native, especially having built an app from scratch.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives within your team, mentoring engineers through design and delivery, contributing meaningfully to roadmap discussions, and independently driving complex projects from design through execution.

Qualifications

• Experience with Expo.
• Experience with Typescript.

This role is Hybrid in New York or San Francisco, we will consider remote within North America on a case-by-case basis. We define hybrid as 2-3 days in office. Your base salary would fall within the bands below. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of your offer is not included in these numbers and represents a significant part of your total compensation.

Pay

Competitive Compensation:Senior Mobile Engineer: $185k-$200k base
