About the role

Symbotic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Perception team. This role involves designing and implementing high-performance perception software for mobile robots using Python and C++. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the team to enhance product performance and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop real-time high-performance perception software for mobile robots using Python and C++.
  • Analyze and evaluate existing Python and C++ software and lead technical design projects to increase efficiency and performance.
  • Build high-quality Python and C++ software in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with the team and drive best practices to improve quality standards.
  • Analyze and address the root cause of issues affecting product performance using a Linux terminal and tools like Snowflake and Tableau.
  • Drive project scoping and requirement specification, providing senior leadership with deep technical insight needed to create long-term technical roadmaps.
  • Amplify impact through other team members by serving as a technical mentor to guide the team toward innovative solutions and increased productivity.

Requirements

  • A minimum of Master’s degree in a related discipline (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, etc.).
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience developing software applications.
  • Experience leading complex engineering efforts and delivering products successfully.
  • Experience developing perception software to process multiple cameras and LiDARs in real-time.
  • Experience developing software for Nvidia platforms.
  • Experience with Linux development, Docker, and CI/CD tools.
  • Comfortable with asynchronous or multithread programming.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging systems, and protocols, such as ROS, ROS2.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively represent technical concepts to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals.
  • Experience with Python and C++ programming languages.
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems and development tools.
  • Experience with ROS, ROS2, and other relevant frameworks.
  • Ability to work in an Agile development environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Pay

The base range for this position in the posted location is $149,000.00 - $204,600.00. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO, and/or other benefits.

Schedule

Employees must own a credit card and manage expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
