About the Role

Tenable is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our core product engineering team, focused on designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-based, state-of-the-art search solutions on top of our customers' ever-evolving infrastructure in a scalable way.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

• Implement and maintain a highly scalable, highly reliable cloud-native user interface and underlying microservices using modern technologies and programming languages.
• Build the services that enable data ingestion, storage, querying, and retrieval at scale, forming the backbone of the data ecosystem.
• Manage the ingestion, storage, and retrieval of data within the platform, ensuring robustness and efficiency.
• Architect, design, and implement features to drive the overall platform architecture.
• Drive ongoing innovation of Tenable’s global cloud architecture and distributed systems.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, engineers, designers, and stakeholders to iterate on products and mentor peers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage services around data handling, including infrastructure supporting data activities.
• Lead and mentor mid-level and junior staff in designing, implementing, and executing highly technical projects.
• Work in an Agile team environment, driving projects independently or collaboratively.
• Ensure accountability for software behavior in production.
• Optimize database performance, schema design, and query optimization in a distributed microservice architecture.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience in enterprise development with a desire to lead.
• Experience in distributed, microservice architecture.
• B.S. degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience developing in Java or Kotlin, with a willingness to learn new languages.
• Experience in containerized microservices using Kubernetes.
• Experience developing core libraries, infrastructure, and search engines.
• Experience with databases (SQL or NoSQL such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch).
• Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, or similar).
• Cross-platform development experience is a plus.
• Enthusiasm for continuous learning and exposure to new technologies.

Pay

US Pay Range: $137,500—$183,500 USD. Compensation depends on qualifications, skills, location, and experience. Employees are also eligible for variable compensation (bonus for non-sales roles) and comprehensive benefits.
