About the role

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute innovative strategies, processes and infrastructure to build, test, qualify and release new software versions at scale.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Technical Infrastructure (TI), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Deep Mind to understand their priorities and how CoreOS can fulfill them.
  • Partner with internal and open source Linux developers to understand latest advancements and how they impact performance and functionality of our production fleet.
  • Build tools and dashboards to generate insights around kernel quality and risk assessment.
  • Manage Google internal functionality required for integrating upcoming Google custom hardware (ML infra, Memory chips, etc).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 5 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
  • 5 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Linux kernel development.
  • Proficiency in algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software design and expertise in Unix/Linux systems, IP networking, performance and application issues along with knowledge of CI/CD best practices.
  • Ability to grow in a fluid, dynamic, and complex technical environment.
  • Ability to provide leadership that delivers outcomes.

Benefits

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $174000 - $253000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
