About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Content Cards team, focused on transforming in-product surfaces into dynamic, personalized experiences that adapt to user behavior in real time.

We build the systems powering in-app engagement across customers’ websites and applications—covering message definition, composition, targeting, delivery semantics, and analytics—along with a feature-rich dashboard that lets brands and UX teams seamlessly manage in-product messaging.

As a senior engineer, you’ll build new capabilities, improve reliability and performance, and guide key architectural decisions as we scale. You’ll drive ambitious initiatives that expand what customers can build on high-value surfaces, unlock new ways to present and orchestrate content, and strengthen platform foundations for future innovation across in-product channels.

We value engineers who raise the bar through strong technical leadership, thoughtful system design, and clear communication.

Responsibilities

  • Build new capabilities for in-product messaging and engagement systems.
  • Improve reliability, performance, and scalability of existing systems.
  • Drive key architectural decisions to support growth and innovation.
  • Collaborate on initiatives that expand customer use cases for high-value surfaces.
  • Unlock new ways to present and orchestrate content dynamically.
  • Strengthen platform foundations to accelerate future innovation.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership through system design and clear communication.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full-stack development experience.
  • Proven track record of driving complex projects from ambiguity to delivery.
  • Strong understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Self-starter with excellent communication and organizational skills; experienced working in a team environment.

Skills

  • Bonus: Professional experience building software at immense scale, especially customer-facing platforms with high reliability requirements.
  • Professional experience with Ruby, Sidekiq, TypeScript/JavaScript, and React.
  • Experience with agile development processes.

Pay

For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $144,000 and $234,000/year, with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $128,842 and $209,368/year (including bonus or commission). Your exact offer may vary depending on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role also qualifies for a comprehensive Total Rewards package, including equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs).

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, including equity.
  • Retirement and Employee Stock Purchase Plans.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefit plans.
  • Family services, including fertility benefits and equal paid parental leave.
  • Professional development supported by formal career pathing, learning platforms, and a yearly learning stipend.
  • A curated in-office employee experience fostering community, team connections, and innovation.
  • Opportunities to give back, including Volunteer Week and donation matching.
  • Employee Resource Groups providing supportive communities within Braze.
  • Collaborative, transparent, and fun culture recognized as a Great Place to Work®.
