Senior Software Engineer - Enterprise Platforms

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and develop platforms powering enterprise products at LinkedIn. The Enterprise Platform (EP) Team serves as the core platform for every paid product at LinkedIn, sitting horizontally across other LinkedIn products to offer user and license management, identity, and access management.

Technical scale includes:

• Over 200 APIs supporting enterprise products and workflows across 50+ code repositories and one Ring 1 service
• More than 150 data tables storing 90+ TB of critical enterprise data across Espresso, MySQL, Pinot, and Couchbase
• Systems handling 500K+ peak requests per second
• Hosted search infrastructure powering enterprise search experiences
• More than 160 nearline and offline processing jobs supporting multiple product organizations across LinkedIn

This role is hybrid, performed both from home and a LinkedIn office on select days as determined by business needs.

Responsibilities

• Scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, write code, and deliver with speed and quality
• Develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7
• Produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration
• Identify, leverage, and evangelize opportunities to improve engineering productivity

Requirements

• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience
• 7+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm-related solutions
• 7+ years of programming experience in Java and/or any object-oriented language

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant work experience
• Expert knowledge of computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design
• Experience with object-oriented design, coding, testing patterns, and programming languages (Java, C++)
• Proven coding skills in a high-level language with the ability to learn other languages as needed
• Experience building web applications and services with IDEs and general development practices
• Proven experience building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems involving high-volume data processing
• Expertise in building platforms like centralized authorization leveraged by multiple teams for secured product experiences
• Strong hands-on knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, focusing on data modeling, performance tuning, and operational reliability
• Experience with real-time data streaming frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Beam) and event-driven architectures
• Deep understanding of system bottlenecks, data consistency trade-offs, and techniques for ensuring data integrity at scale
