Senior Software Engineer - Cryptography & Key Management
Quevera is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer – Cryptography & Key Management with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph to support mission-critical programs in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.
About the Role
In this role, you will support the productization of mission-focused software solutions for deployment across broader Department of Defense (DoD) environments. Working alongside a collaborative engineering and consulting team, you will design, develop, and enhance software solutions supporting encryption libraries, authorization workflows, and key management services. You’ll help remove customer-specific dependencies, abstract environment-specific configurations, and develop interfaces that enable secure solutions to operate across multiple customer environments. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to provide technical leadership, contribute to solution design and implementation, and support the development of secure, integrated software solutions across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance software solutions supporting productization efforts across Department of Defense environments.
- Lead changes supporting the development of encryption libraries and key management services.
- Support the removal of customer-specific dependencies and abstraction of environment-specific configurations.
- Develop and enhance interfaces that enable authorization workflows and key management operations across multiple customer environments.
- Support software development across major solution components, including clients, Portal, Proxy services, and OpenBao-based key management services.
- Establish and apply software development best practices to support successful implementation of solution designs.
- Contribute to solution design, implementation, system testing, and defect resolution.
- Collaborate with project teams through technical communication, planning, and documentation.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to project team members throughout software development and implementation activities.
- Manage day-to-day technical efforts supporting project accomplishments.
- Participate in project planning and project status communications.
- Develop detailed solutions for moderately complex projects while considering technical, schedule, and budget constraints.
- Support the design, implementation, testing, and deployment of complex extensions and configurations addressing customer-specific business processes and workflows.
- Identify technical risks and support the development of appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with customer management and technical teams to deliver integrated software solutions.
- Support solutions across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
- Twelve (12) or more years of relevant professional experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. Eight (8) years of equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build strong working relationships with team members and customers.
- Ability to operate independently while delivering high-quality technical solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and performance evaluation skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within team and matrixed environments.
- Ability to independently manage multiple responsibilities and take ownership of assigned project or initiative components.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines or changing requirements.
Skills
- Experience supporting Intelligence Community environments as a contractor.
- Eight (8) or more years of Java development experience across Linux and Windows platforms or eight (8) or more years of experience developing with C and/or C++.
- Proficiency in at least one additional high-level programming language, preferably Python, Go, or Rust.
- Eight (8) or more years of experience with modern software development management.
- Deep understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Five (5) or more years of cryptographic experience, including a strong understanding of key management.
- Five (5) or more years of experience developing or working with REST APIs.
- Two (2) or more years of experience with cloud platforms, tools, and administration.
- Five (5) or more years of experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience developing and supporting encryption libraries and key management services.
- Experience working with OpenBao-based key management services.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to follow through on technical initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively with virtual teams and within matrixed environments.
